Fight for kokum

published on 03 September 2022

Colonizers grow weaker
With their privileged lives
While the traumatized
Built armour on the inside.

It will take ten colonizers
To stop each freedom fighter.

My Granny with her cane,
Her kokum scarf and ganja,
Punches bannock harder
Than you could ever imagine.

We will fight for Kokum beyond her days.

Simply to heal your hurtful ways.

Hold you guns in your weakness.
Soon, you will be outnumbered.
The world is watching you falter now.
Queens no longer have strength
Compared to our matriarchs.
Keep the gold! Let it weigh you down!
While our children wear flowered crowns.

We will not cease until your Monarch
Compensates and bows down.
We will not hault until the Pope frowns.

You have awakened a generation of
Intellectuals willing to stand
Ready for the battle of our lives.
Our Elders need justice,
Our children need sleep,
The spirits still with us,
Make us stronger through peace.

“NOW THROW THE RED PAINT SO THE SPIRITS CAN SEE!”
