Cut my third eye wide open
I see a few seconds of time
Decide whether to run or hide
Or stand still and take the strides.
Sacrifice sweet cherished memories
To peek in Pandora’s box
Once I see what’s stored inside
My memories are locked.
Misplaced memories from the past.
The wound is healing mighty fast.
Scarring the eye closed; it shuts
As I lose sight of the future.
My children show me this talent
Saying goodbye is a gift
When what was a blessing to some
To me was a curse to lift.
